Inspire Academy Trained Students A Based on direction and tone, I grouped conversations into four types: debate, dialogue, discourse, and diatribe. Debate is a competitive, two-way conversation. The goal is to win an argument or convince someone, such as the other participant or third-party observers
- Be an active listener and don’t let your attention drift.
- Identify the main ideas being discussed.
- Evaluate what is being said.
- Listen with an open mind and be receptive to new ideas and points of view.
- Test your understanding.
- Ask yourself questions as you listen.
